Law Enforcement Guidelines

How law enforcement agencies can submit legal requests to Bashert Matchmaking.

1. About these guidelines

Bashert Matchmaking, operated by Bashert Events ("we," "us"), is a personal matchmaking service based in Greater Boston, Massachusetts. We cooperate with law enforcement and take member safety seriously. These guidelines explain how law enforcement agencies can request member records and how we respond. They do not create any enforceable rights and may be updated at any time.

2. What records we hold

We are a small, personal service. The records we may hold about a member include: application responses, contact information (name, email, phone if provided), interview notes, subscription and billing records (processed by Stripe), and correspondence with us. We do not operate a messaging platform between members; introductions are made by email, and members communicate directly thereafter on channels we do not control.

3. Submitting a request

  • All law enforcement requests should be sent by email to sandidge.moriah@gmail.com with the subject line "Law Enforcement Request."
  • Requests must come from an official agency email address and include: the requesting officer's name, badge or identification number, agency, direct contact information, the specific records sought, and the legal basis for the request.
  • We disclose member records only in response to valid legal process — a subpoena, court order, or search warrant issued through proper channels — or in the emergency circumstances described below.
  • We respond to properly submitted requests as promptly as we are able, typically within ten business days.

4. Emergency disclosure requests

Where we have a good-faith belief that there is an emergency involving danger of death or serious physical injury to any person, we may disclose information necessary to prevent that harm without legal process, consistent with 18 U.S.C. § 2702(b)(8) and (c)(4). Emergency requests should be marked "EMERGENCY" in the subject line and describe the nature of the emergency, the person at risk, and why the request cannot wait for legal process.

5. Preservation requests

Upon receipt of a formal preservation request from a law enforcement agency under 18 U.S.C. § 2703(f), we will preserve the requested existing records for 90 days, renewable upon a further request, pending issuance of legal process.

6. Child safety

Our service is restricted to adults 18 and over. If we become aware of any child sexual abuse material or the sexual exploitation of a minor in connection with our service, we report it to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) and cooperate fully with law enforcement.

7. Member notice

Our policy is to notify a member before disclosing their records in response to legal process, unless we are legally prohibited from doing so (for example, by a non-disclosure order under 18 U.S.C. § 2705(b)) or we believe notice would risk harm to any person, obstruct an investigation, or involve an emergency.

8. International requests

We are a United States business and disclose records to non-U.S. agencies only through applicable mutual legal assistance treaty (MLAT) processes or U.S. legal process.
